WE RECOIL FROM THE WORD PROPAGANDA

OUR NEIGHBORHOOD is a feature-length documentary that examines the small-screen Cold War Washington waged secretly and semiscretly against the Cuban Revolution throughout Latin America across the 1960s. At its core is extensive archival investigations –– featuring footage of the programs publicly unseen since they initially aired –– and original interviews with those who produced them. Funding from the National Endowment for the Humanities, the American Council of Learned Societies, and the Social Science Research Council as well as the JFK Library Foundation supported the project's initial investigations. More recently, My year as a fellow in multimedia history in Harvard's Charles Warren Center for Studies in American History supported Our Neighborhood's development and a LightPress grant from the Interbay Cinema Society has advanced its production. The Center for Independent Documentary is Our Neighborhood's 501(c)(3) nonprofit production partner, via which you can make a much-appreciated, tax-deductible donation to our doc's completion.
